Golden Boy has officially announced that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will make his first middleweight title defense against Amir “King” Khan on Saturday, May 7.
This will be an intriguing bout that will pit Alvarez’s power against Khan’s speed. Alvarez will most likely be a solid favorite over Khan, but Khan’s speed might give Alvarez problems.
Alvarez had a hard time with Floyd Mayweather’s speed and elusiveness, so there’s a chance Khan will provide Alvarez with the same problems.
The big difference between Mayweather and Khan is in the defense department. Khan can be hit much easier than Mayweather. Khan has also shown a questionable chin. He’s been knocked out against Breidis Prescott and Danny Garcia.
No details about the venue have been given, but this fight will be marketed for Cinco de Mayo weekend. I’m assuming it will take place in a Vegas location.
It should be a fun fight. Who do you have winning?
