That Boxing Writer's Podcast Ep. 1 Recap

Episode 1 of That Boxing Writer's Podcast is in the books!

It was a huge success and featured some incredible boxers and pundits. Undefeated super welterweight Joey Spencer was an amazing guest and gave us an EXCLUSIVE interview. He also broke the news that his brother Mickel Spencer will be making his professional boxing debut on the undercard of Errol Spence Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao. We might have to connect with Mickel before that event.

Oh, and Joey went on to win his event on the big stage of FOX primetime. Congratulations Joey!

Good friend and great boxing mind Lucas Ketelle, a.k.a Lukie Boxing, dropped a lot of wisdom on Olympic boxing. He's an encyclopedia of knowledge and gave me quite an education on upcoming amateurs. You need to check out his website and his ITRBoxing Youtube channel. His content is amazing.

Matchroom Boxing had a big event. They lost Conor Benn due to COVID. I Hope Conor is feeling better, but Leigh Wood made a splash as the main eventer defeating Xu Can for the WBA "regular" title with the performance of his life. What a fight, Leigh!

Also on the show was new dad Anthony Fowler. He had a crazy week before the fight but showed steel focus winning his bout in a big way. He also secured a major bout against Liam Smith. Enjoy time with baby Luca and get some rest! I'm picking Fowler to beat Smith, FYI.

Campbell Hatton talked to me about his growth and showed continued improvement in his third victory. Keep it going, young man.

Thank you again to all who appeared on the show and helped in this process. I learned a lot and can't wait for episode 2! I will drop some teasers early this week on Twitter and Youtube, so be on the lookout. It's another massive episode.

Well, I have my weekly FanSided column "After the Fight" to write. You can bet that Leigh Wood's win will be discussed. I also need to do some editing for podcast episode 2. Be sure to leave a review and comment on iTunes. You can also contact me directly via email. Thanks for reading, listening, and watching.
